Purpose: The student will become familiar with APA formatting. APA Style, or American Psychological Association, is the standard format for almost all social science research fields. It was designed to standardize scientific writing. Using citation helps the author avoid plagiarism and the serious consequences that come alone with it. The nursing field uses APA formatting for the majority of its papers. Directions: • Goal is to find 30 wrong items with this APA (incorrectly) formatted paper. • Re-type the paper and fix all the errors. Please do not change the wording of the sentences as this is not necessary. • Count your “fixes” and put that number at the bottom of the page of the paper • All errors not found are worth 3.33 points. That is including font, margins, headers • Grammatical errors do not count, nor do the DOI references on the reference page. • Do not add an abstract. • If there is a missing page number for a quote, (hint, hint), then insert one using a page number that correlates in the reference. • Please use OWL@Purdue as your reference. • Look at the sample APA paper posted; your paper should look like that • Please email me if you have any questions k_panagiotes@mwcc.mass.edu • Please make sure you put your name on the title page where mine is located. • Due to Professor Kathy Panagiotes on April 4 at 11:58pm; the end of Module 1. • Late papers will be penalized as noted in the nursing handbook.
