HRM Research Proposal
The purpose of this HRM Research Proposal is for you to start working on your final assignment which is a Research Case Study (see assignment #3 below). In this assignment, you will set the scope of the final Research Paper and ensure that work on the final assignment begins as early as possible. The Proposal also gives the instructor an opportunity to provide feedback on the merits of your intended research.
You are to prepare and submit a proposal for your research, which is to be a practical, applied look at a minimum of four (4) human resource management issues in the workplace.
You must develop a topic for your Research Paper.  Your actual topic must be stated in the form a Question. Your Research Question must be one that is researchable.  In your Literature Review section, you must be able to identify documented (existing) literature to help in answering your Research Question. Please note that the answers to your research topic and the five (5) questions posed in this Proposal will appear in your Assignment #3.
You are to focus on no less the four (4) issues/problems. In addition to information you obtained from your interview, you may want to focus on any or all of the following as noted in Assignment I: (strategic HR management, legal issues in HR, how the organization handles various human resource management functions, managing diversity, conflict, and or, workplace discrimination and other challenges) in your Research Paper. You must select no less than four (4) areas of focus. You can also use areas outlined in the text and other supplemental materials from the course.
The Proposal must reflect your preliminary ideas for the presentation of your case study for your final assignment.
Formatting
Use 12-point font, double-spaced, and one-inch margins on all 4 sides
Title Page must contain your Name and Student ID Number
Research Proposal should be a minimum of four (4) pages, not including the Title Page and Reference/Bibliography
Use in-text citations so I can decipher where exactly in your paper you drew upon others’ work.
Provide complete reference information (author, date, title, publication, volume and page numbers; providing a URL only is insufficient) on a separate sheet (see References/Bibliography section below).
Your proposal paper should include the following:
a. Introduction
Clearly identify and define the issues/problems of concern within the chosen organization you will investigate
Present a Statement of Purpose highlighting the importance of the topic
Explain the Significance of the Research or Investigation
b. Literature Review: shows that you have theoretical knowledge in the subject
identify the initial listing of primary and secondary sources for your research, and or potential additional interviewees
identify the background of the problems, drawn from personal knowledge and from course readings
c. Objective
State what you hope to accomplish by Identifying at least five (5) draft questions you plan to answer with by your research (these could be presented in bullet form in this Proposal)
d. References/Bibliography
A minimum of five (5) references is required.
You should use books, peer-reviewed journal articles, professional association publication, and electronic sources as reference materials.
Provide complete reference information (author, date, title, publication, volume and page numbers; providing a URL only is insufficient) on a separate sheet.
To be considered “complete,” reference information must include author(s), title, date, and publisher plus, if a journal or magazine article, the name of the journal or magazine, volume and issue numbers, and page numbers. A reference citation containing only a URL is insufficient.
