5 – “More than one third of the U.S. adults (over 72 million people) and 17 percent of U.S. children are obese…During the past several decades, obesity rates for all populations groups—regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, education level, or geographic region—have increased markedly FOR EXAMPLE: a Physical Therapist may have to rehabilitate after a knee replacement surgery that was required based on the amount of strain that is placed on the joints of an obese individual.
